January 23, 2017 –
Cowlitz County is holding a critical hearing on whether to issue local land use permits to Northwest Innovation Works’ Kalama methanol refinery. We need to pack the room and deliver compelling testimony to convince a county-hired Hearings Officer to deny the project.
- What: Public hearing to determine if building the world’s largest methanol refinery is a good fit for the Columbia River (aka “the Shorelines Substantial Development permit”)
- When: Monday, January 23, 2017, at 12:00 pm. Note: The hearing begins at 9:00 AM but public testimony won’t occur until afternoon. Please arrive in time for the rally on site at noon.
- Where: Cowlitz County Fairgrounds and Event center 1900 7th Ave SW, Longview, WA
- Act Now: Submit a public comment telling Cowlitz County officials not to permit the Kalama methanol refinery to harm Kalama or the Columbia River. (comments accepted until 1/19)
